Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

No you do not require a referral to make an appointment with FTSPodiatry.

What types of patients are seen by Forster Tuncurry Sports Podiatry?

Patients of all ages are welcome to make an appointment.

You do not have to be a ‘sports person’ to benefit from our treatments. Our treatment programs are patient specific, meaning that they are tailored to you (your age, presenting complaint, medical history, activities, occupation etc…)

Children as young as 2 years and adults as old as 90+ years have all benefited from a variety of treatments offered through FTSPodiatry.

I have a Medicare EPC referral from my Doctor. What now?

In some instances you may be referred to FTSPodiatry by your GP under the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care program (EPC). If this is the case please be aware of the following;

  • You are required to present the referral form at the first consultation, unless your GP has provided it directly to FTSPodiatry
  • Please ensure that the referral form has been filled out correctly. Incomplete forms can not be accepted and you may be required to reschedule your appointment.
  • Medicare benefits are available for UP TO 5 allied health services per patient per calendar year.
  • This is NOT a free service. Allied health professionals can determine their own fees for the professional service. Charges in excess of the Medicare benefit are the responsibility of the patient (ie: gap payment).

All information regarding allied health treatments under this scheme can be found at;

Will my private health insurance cover podiatry?

Private health insurance rebates depend on the fund and the level of cover you have. If you are unsure of your level of cover it is advised to check with your health fund.

If podiatry services are included in your policy, and you have not exceeded your claim limit, you should be eligible for rebates.

Am I able to access general podiatry services from Forster Tuncurry Sports Podiatry?
